Pohela Boishakh 1415(Bangla New Year)

New Year's festivities are closely linked with rural life in Bengal. Usually on Poila Boishakh, the home is thoroughly scrubbed and cleaned; people bathe early in the morning and dress in fine clothes. They spend much of the day visiting relatives, friends, and neighbours. Special foods are prepared to entertain guests. This is one rural festival that has become enormously big in the cities, especially in Dhaka.

Boishakhi fairs are arranged in many parts of the country. Various agricultural products, traditional handicrafts, toys, cosmetics, as well as various kinds of food and sweets are sold at these fairs. The fairs also provide entertainment, with singers and dancers staging jatra (traditional plays), pala gan, kobigan, jarigan, gambhira gan, gazir gan and alkap gan. They present folk songs as well as baul, marfati, murshidi and bhatiali songs. Narrative plays like Laily-Majnu, Yusuf-Zulekha and Radha-Krishna are staged. Among other attractions of these fairs are puppet shows and merry-go-rounds.

Many old festivals connected with New Year's Day have disappeared, while new festivals have been added. With the abolition of the zamindari system, the punya connected with the closing of land revenue accounts has disappeared. Kite flying in Dhaka and bull racing in Munshiganj used to be very colourful events. Other popular village games and sports were horse races, bullfights, cockfights, flying pigeons, and boat racing. Some festivals, however, continue to be observed; for example, bali (wrestling) in Chittagong and gambhira in Rajshahi are still popular events.

Observance of Poila Boishakh has become popular in the cities. Early in the morning, people gather under a big tree or on the bank of a lake to witness the sunrise. Artists present songs to usher in the new year. People from all walks of life wear traditional Bengali attire: young women wear white saris with red borders, and adorn themselves with churi bangles, ful flowers, and tip (bindis). Men wear white paejama (pants) or lungi(dhoti/dhuti) (long skirt) and kurta (tunic). Many townspeople start the day with the traditional breakfast of panta bhat (rice soaked in water), green chillies, onion, and fried hilsa fish.

The most colourful new year's day festival takes place in Dhaka. Large numbers of people gather early in the morning under the banyan tree at Ramna Park where Chhayanat artists open the day with Rabindranath Tagore's famous song, Esho, he Boishakh, Esho Esho (Come, O Boishakh, Come, Come). A similar ceremony welcoming the new year is also held at the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. Students and teachers of the institute take out a colourful procession and parade round the campus. Social and cultural organisations celebrate the day with cultural programmes. Newspapers bring out special supplements. There are also special programmes on radio and television.

The historical importance of Poila Baishakh in the Bangladeshi context may be dated from the observance of the day by Chhayanat in 1965. In an attempt to suppress Bengali culture, the Pakistani Government had banned poems written by Rabindranath Tagore, the most famous poet and writer in Bengali literature. Protesting this move, Chhayanat opened their Poila Boishakh celebrations at Ramna Park with Tagore's song welcoming the month. The day continued to be celebrated in East Pakistan as a symbol of Bengali culture. After 1972 it became a national festival, a symbol of the Bangladesh nationalist movement and an integral part of the people's cultural heritage. Later, in the mid- 1980s the Institute of Fine Arts added colour to the day by initiating the Boishakhi parade, which is much like a carnival parade.

Microsoft To Mainstream Containerized Data Centers With C-Blox

The server-packed shipping units allow Microsoft to run its entire $500 million Northlake facility with a continuous staff of little more than 20 or 30 employees.

For all the talk Sun Microsystems (NSDQ: JAVA) and Rackable raised about building data centers from stacks of shipping containers, another company, Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT), is finally delivering one of the first real case studies by building a container-based data center itself.

Several companies have come out with containerized data center products, including Sun's MD S20 (formerly known as Project Blackbox), Rackable's Integrated Concerto Environment Cube (ICE Cube), and Verari's Forest. These have been largely marketed as products suited for portable data center needs and disaster recovery and as additions to existing data centers, but Microsoft is taking a more comprehensive approach.

The first floor of Microsoft's $500 million Northlake, Ill., data center, which is currently under construction, will house between 150 and 220 industry-standard 40-foot shipping containers holding between 1,000 and 2,000 physical servers apiece, or somewhere between 150,000 and 440,000 servers in total. According to Microsoft general manager of data center services Michael Manos, that's as many as 11 times the number of servers a conventional data center that size would have.

"We really look at containers as an opportunity to increase scale and drive even more efficiency into our data centers," Manos said in an interview. "We've upped the unit of storage from one server to a rack of servers to a container."

Microsoft has developed its own specifications that include, for example, configuration for electrical components and the layout of physical servers, for its containers. Those specs make Microsoft's containers different from anything on the market today, and a potential opportunity for future Microsoft products. The containers, which Microsoft calls C-blox, are largely self-contained and will require very little hands-on maintenance.

"The doors are closed, and because of the level of automation in our systems, we can run it and accept a certain amount of failure over time," Manos said. Manos argues that it is more cost effective to build redundancy and automation into Microsoft's data center applications and allow some hardware to fail than it would be to physically manage such a large data center. The hands-off approach also means design can be tweaked to allow for maximum cooling and energy efficiency without worrying about how accessible the systems are to human hands. Of course, Microsoft also builds backbones that link power, cooling, and bandwidth among the containers.

In the C-blox world, a truck drops off a data center container and then picks it up again in a few years when Microsoft is ready to switch over to new hardware. Administrators will only enter the physical C-blox in the rarest of occasions. "In that sense, your IT workers look more like truckers and longshoremen than traditional IT workers," Manos said. It will also allow Microsoft to run the entire Northlake facility with a continuous staff of little more than 20 or 30 employees.

Manos admitted that despite huge interest from hundreds of people after he gave a keynote address at Data Center World last week, containerized data centers aren't for every company. Microsoft's own deployment relies on a highly automated, virtualized infrastructure and substantial monitoring and management tools in order to be so hands-off. The data centers automatically provision and reprovision virtual servers and even heal themselves when problems occur. For most companies, such extensive virtualization and automation remains little more than a multiyear plan, not a reality.

"If you think about the applications, you really have to do a pretty significant analysis on containers," he said. "Can your apps survive significant degradation over time, what are the latencies between applications, and can you drive your infrastructure to really make use of these things? There's a lot of applications that don't make sense, and there's a pretty introspective analysis needed."

Despite the warnings, one thing Microsoft can do is legitimize by example that a company can use shipping containers to build an entire data center, rather than just using them as supplemental server capacity. And that's exactly what it has set out to do.

Some Common Mistakes that Violate Google Adsense TOS

I often haired that many people is not getting success with their Adsense income and get banned by Google.Yes this is true. One of my friend asked me why and how it happen? And how can people get relief from this. I started to study about this and got that this is main reasons why people is not success and become banned with Google. I got a blog where the main reasons were wrote.I'm mentioning here some mistakes which violet Google adsense TOS.

Google Adsense tips, probably many you already know, and few you might gain by knowing now. These adsense faq are all picked from the Program Policies, Terms and Conditions and FAQ itself and presented in a simplified manner.

1. Never click your own adsense ads or get them clicked for whatever reason. You know this one very well. This is a surefire way to close you Adsense account. Never tell your office associates or friends to click on them. Keep a check if your family or children are busy increasing your income by clicking your ads and indirectly trying to stop your income. Dont even think of offering incentives for clicks, using automated clicking tools, or other deceptive software. Adsense is very smart to detect fraudulent clicks. Check the ads which appear on your pages by the Google Preview tool if required.

2. Never change the Adsense code. There are enough means of adsense optimization & customizations available to change the colour, background or border to suit your needs. Do whatever you want to do outside the code, never fiddle within the ad or the search code. They know it when you do. The search code has more limitations to colour and placement, but you should adhere to the rules. The code may stop working and violates the TOS.

3. Do not place more than 3 ad units and 3 ad links or 2 adsense search boxes on any web page. Anyway, ads will not appear in those units even if you place more ad units. But this is the limit they set, so it is better to stick to it.

4. Do not run competitive contextual text ad or search services on the same site which offer Google Adsense competition in their field. Never try to create link structures resembling the adsense ads. Never use other competitive search tools on the same pages which have Adsense powered Google search. They do allow affiliate or limited-text links. Update: Google has allowed you to run contextual advertising like Yahoo ads, Chitika etc provided the ads do not resemble Adsense ads.

5. Do not disclose confidential information about your account like the CTR, CPM and income derived via individual ad units or any other confidential information they may reveal to you. However, you may reveal the total money you make as per recent updates to the TOS.

6. Label headings as “sponsored links” or “advertisements” only. Other labels are not allowed. I have seen many sites label ads with other titles. Dont make your site a target in a few seconds gaze.

7. Never launch a New Page for clicked ads by default. Adsense ads should open on the same page. You may be using a base target tag to open all links in a new window or frame by default. Correct it now as they do not want new pages opening from clicked ads.

8. One Account suffices for Multiple websites. You do not need to create 5 accounts for 5 different websites. One account will do. If you live in the fear that if one account is closed down for violation of TOS, believe me they will close all accounts when they find out. You can keep track of clicks by using channels with real time statistics. They will automatically detect the new site and display relevant ads.

9. Place ads only on Content Pages. Advertisers pay only for content based ads. Content drives relevant ads. Although you might manage some clicks from error, login, registration, “thank you” or welcome pages, parking pages or pop ups, it will get you out of the program.

10. Do not mask ad elements. Alteration of colours and border is a facility to blend or contrast ads as per your site requirements. I have seen many sites where the url part is of the same colour as the background. While blending the ad with your site is a good idea, hiding relevant components of the ads is not allowed. Also do not block the visibility of ads by overlapping images, pop ups, tables etc.

11. Do not send your ads by email. Html formatted emails look good and allow placement of these javascript ads. But it is not allowed as per TOS. You do not want impressions registering on their logs from any email even once. They are watching!

12. Keep track of your content. So Adsense is not allowed on several non content pages. But it is also not allowed on several content pages too. Do not add it on web pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results. Also exclude any pornographic, hate-related, violent, or illegal content.

13. Do not alter the results after ad clicks or searches
- Ensure you are not in any way altering the site which the user reaches to after clicking the ads. Do not frame, minimize, remove, redirect or otherwise inhibit the full and complete display of any Advertiser Page or Search Results Page after the user clicks on any Ad or Search results.

14. Avoid excessive advertising and keyword stuffing - Although the definition of ‘excessive’ is a gray area and is subject to discretion, yet Google adsense with correct placement, focused content and high traffic will get you much more income than other programs, so excessive advertising is not required. Keyword stuffing does target better focused ads, but overdoing it is not required.

15. Ensure you Language is Supported - Adsense supports “Chinese (simplified), Japanese, Danish, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, English, Polish, Finnish, Portuguese, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Swedish, Italian and Turkish”. In addition, AdSense for search is available in Czech, Slovak, and Traditional Chinese. If your web pages language is not supported, do not use the code on such pages.

Update:
16. Maximum 2 referral button per product per page - With the launch of the google adsense referral program, you are allowed to put only 2 referral buttons for adsense referral, adwords referral, Google pack and Firefox with google toolbar referral.

17. Do not specify Google ads as your alternate ads. - Several services like Chitika eminimalls allow you to place alternate urls, when a targeted paying ad cannot be displayed. This involved creating an simple html page and putting the ad to be displayed instead. Even Adsense allows an alternate url feature instead of displaying public service ads. But never use Adsense ads as alternate urls.

18. Do not confuse with adjacent images - It was a common policy to increase CTR by placing same number of images as the number of text ads, which falsely gave the impression that the text ads represented an explanation to these images. Inserting a small space or a line between the images and ads is not allowed. Make sure that the ads and images are not arranged in a way that could easily mislead or confuse your visitors.

21 February :: International Mother Language Day

21 February was proclaimed the International Mother Language Day by UNESCO on 17 November 1999. Its observance was also formally recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution establishing 2008 as the International Year of Languages.

International Mother Language Day originated as the international recognition of Language
Movement Day, which has been commemorated in Bangladesh (formerly East Pakistan) since 1952, when a number of Bangladeshi university students were killed by the then East Pakistan police and army in Dhaka, formerly Dacca.

International Mother Language Day is observed yearly by UNESCO member states and at its
headquarters to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.

History Of the day

On that day of 21 February 1952, corresponding to 8 Falgun 1359 in the Bangla calendar, a
number of students campaigning for the recognition of Bangla as one of the state languages of
Pakistan were killed when police fired upon them.

Mohammed Ali Jinnah(the Governor general of Pakistan) declared that the Urdu will be the
only language for both west and east Pakistan at a public meeting on 1948, 21 March. The
people of the East Pakistan (now Bangladesh, whose main language is Bengali) started to
protest against this.

A student meeting on 21 February called for a province-wide strike. But the government
invoked Section 144 on 20 February. The student community at a meeting on the morning of
21 February agreed to continue with their protest but not to break the law of Section 144.
Even then the police opened fire and killed the students.

Police declared Section 144 which banned any sort of meeting. Defying this, the students of
University of Dhaka and Dhaka Medical College and other political activists started a
procession in February 21, 1952. Near the current Dhaka Medical College Hospital, police
fired on the protesters and numerous people, including Abdus Salam, Rafiq Uddin Ahmed,
Sofiur Rahman, Abul Barkat and Abdul Jabbar, died.

The movement spread to the whole of East Pakistan and the whole province came to a
standstill. Afterwards, the Government of Pakistan relented and gave Bengali equal status as
a national language.

Opera unleashes innovative technology in latest mobile Web browser — Opera Mobile 9.5

Opera Software, the only company that puts the Web on any device, today announced the commercial release of Opera Mobile 9.5 — the latest version of its award-winning Web browser for sophisticated feature phones and smartphones. Participants at the Mobile World Congress 2008 will be the first to experience the improved functionality of Opera Mobile 9.5.

According to high-tech market research firm, In-Stat, the smartphone market will grow at more than a 30% compound annual growth rate for the next five years globally, exceeding unit sales for laptops, as users experience significant value from their smartphones. Users are downloading more applications and generating higher usage as measured by average revenue per user (ARPU) for operators. The main driver that has fueled this growth is overall user experience on the mobile Web.

Built on Opera's unique core architecture, the Opera Mobile 9.5 desktop-like browsing experience has been enhanced with innovations such as zooming and panning that make it easier to navigate, load pages quicker and get users closer to the Web content and entertainment they want. With Opera Mobile 9.5, users can experience the real Web and interact with content exactly as they do on their PC.

Faster speed

The new version utilizes Opera's Presto rendering engine to achieve page load speeds comparable to a desktop experience. The Opera Presto engine was modified and improves browsing performance significantly by accelerating the handling of Web pages. It dramatically improves page responsiveness on pages with heavy use of languages such as JavaScript and Ajax, ensuring smooth, hassle-free browsing.

Compelling experience

Opera Mobile 9.5 includes numerous features aimed at elevating the mobile browsing experience. Not only is the user interface (UI) intuitive enough to master in minutes, Opera Mobile 9.5 introduces several new innovations that elevate the Internet experience on a handheld device. In addition, productivity tools like the ability to save pages for offline browsing, Web address auto complete and password manager help busy users make the most of their time.

Fully loaded

Web 2.0-enabled, Widget-ready and Flash support turn Opera Mobile 9.5 into a fully loaded browser allowing users to access all their favorite Web sites such as Facebook, MySpace and more. With Opera Mobile 9.5, OEMs and operators will have the capability to include Flash Lite 3, empowering their smartphone users with access to the full Web including the ability to watch videos on YouTube effortlessly. In addition, Opera Widgets, which are mini applications that allow content to be accessed easily from the device idle screen with just a few clicks, are included in the new edition — automatically engaging the user through ease of operation and meeting consumer demands for quick access to information.

New revenue sources, bigger brand

Opera Mobile 9.5's ability to serve Web content directly on the idle screen gets mobile OEMs or operators closer to users. By greatly reducing the number of clicks required to get to content, there is a real potential for operators to increase data revenue and user loyalty. In addition, access to the idle screen allows operators to place their brand strategically to interact dynamically with users. Opera Mobile 9.5 is everything that handset makers and operators have been trying to achieve for years.

How To Write A Successful Blog: Top Ten Tips

If you are just starting your blog and would like to have some basic advice on which key rules to follow to be effective, there is a lot of advice to follow.

You should be aware that there is no "standard" blog approach and that what really counts is how effective you are at communicating to your selected audiences the messages or news you want to get across. From personal diary to magazine-style there are a lot of approaches that can be effectively used to make blog-software become a powerful PR, marketing, or online publishing tool.

Though, there are no hard and fast rules on how to blog, I can safely say that Sharon Housley (ironically a non-blogger by choice) ten-point advice on what to pay attention to when blogging online is a good and well-updated summary of some of the most important things to pay attention to.

Though Sharon is not an active blogger herself, she spends most of her time studying and experimenting with the latest and most effective online publishing tools in order to make the promotion and marketing of her own products and services more effective. In this respect Sharon's advice is even more valuable as it comes from an external researcher seriously dedicated to identify what works from what does not.

1) Stay on topic
Opinions are generally accepted but the content of the items in the blog should all relate to a general theme. Unless you have an uncanny knack for wit, humor or cynicism, the majority of your readers will be interested in the content that relates to a specific defined theme or loosely defined area of interest. Most readers won't care that you eat Cheerios for breakfast. They may, however, be interested in the fact that vinegar takes out stains and that toilet paper rolls make great wreaths. Define a topic and stick to it. This will ensure that you create a loyal following of interested readers.

2) Be informative
If you are attempting to create the impression that you are knowledgeable about a specific industry or sector, be sure that you stay current on news. If you are endorsing a product or voicing an opinion, be sure to check your facts; your reputation is at stake. If you are offering an opinion, be sure to qualify your post, making it clear that the content is intended as an editorial.

3) Old news is not news
While blogging every day can be a drain, it is important that the information presented is current and accurate, writing an article or blurb about something that happened 6 months ago, will not be of interest to many. Telling your audience that Martha Stewart was convicted and will be going to prison, after her sentence is completed will make people question the value of your columns.

4) Adhere to a schedule
Create a schedule and stick to it. Realizing that blogging requires time and effort, don't create unrealistic expectations and be unable to deliver. An occasional lapse or holiday is generally understood but readers returning to find stale, out-dated content are going to find another blog with similar content. New blogs and RSS feeds are popping up on a daily basis. If you have worked hard to develop an audience and a community you don't want to lose them due to lack of communication.

5) Clarity and simplicity
Keep your posts and blog entries clear and easy to understand. Remember, the web is global and expressions, idioms and acronyms don't always translate. Sometimes a little explanation goes a long way.

6) Keyword-rich
If the goal of your blog is to increase your visibility, include related keywords in the title of the blog. Use the title as a headline to attract interest. Each item post should have a title that will attract attention but still be relevant to the post. The title should be no longer than 10-12 words.

7) Quantity matters
In order to attract the attention of search engines, you will need to develop content and substance. A headline or simple sentence is not going to generate the interest of readers or help with search engine ranking. Be sure to archive old blog posts to develop a large portal of similarly-themed content.

8) Frequency
If your blog content is updated frequently, search engines will tend to spider the pages at regular intervals.

9) Spell checking and proof-reading
It only takes a few extra moments and can save you from having to make embarrassing explanations. Remember that whatever you publish on the Internet can be found and archived. Think carefully about what you post before doing so.

10) RSS
RSS will increase your blog's reach. It is important that you include your blog's content in an RSS feed to increase readership and distribution.

Most weblog audiences are small, but with time and regular updates audiences grow. Bloggers may never have more than a few hundred readers, but the people who return to regularly are generally interested in what you have to say.

Adsense Optimization Tools: CrazyEgg

"Cool Adsense Optimization tools I found from One Blog. This is really interesting."

If you have never heard of CrazyEgg before, just visit http://crazyegg.com. CrazyEgg helps you tracking your visitors' clicks.

So, you can check, which adsense units get clicks, which headlines are more effictive, do visitors click links and sidebar and so on. After a couple of days using CrazyEgg i've noticed, that for one of my blogs top ad unit is square rectangle at the bottom of the page - people usually scan the front page through and then click "Older Posts" button. That's not a rule, for some of my blogs this unit isn't good.

Anyway, check CrazyEgg - you can have a free trial, and it's one of the most useful web-tools i discovered lately.

Ebook Review: "AdSense Confessions", How to Earn Google AdSense Income

When you load a site into your browser and see small advertisement blocks here and there with "Ads by Google" appearing nearby, you probably know that when you click on them, someone receives a credit for payment under Google's AdSense program. AdSense is a pay-per-click (PPC) scheme that benefits marketers, buyers and the webmasters who display advertisements on their sites. By bringing together a buyer looking for specific products or services (by entering a term or terms in a search engine), sellers of those products and services and encouraging webmasters to provide the medium by which this happens (their sites), everyone in the equation benefits. It's a truly win-win situation and a brilliant concept.

Because I use AdSense advertisements on my site, but have not yet optimised my income from them, I have been researching ways to do so. I knew that some people were making quite reasonable supplementary incomes from Google AdSense and that it has the potential to add more significantly to my income if I could find out how it's done. Like everyone else, I want a bigger share of the pie.

During my research I found Codrut Turcann's ebook, "AdSense Confessions" which promises to tell you ... How 9 Average People, Not Gurus, Cracked The Code To AdSense Income Boosting And How You Can Copy Their Money-Making Tactics! Plus... Discover How You Can Quickly Catapult Your AdSense Earnings By 450% Or More Using A Powerful, No-Fail Marketing Arsenal.

What's in this ebook?

"AdSense Confessions" consists of 101 pages detailing the success stories of nine people who have, to varying degrees, mastered AdSense sufficiently to earn regular incomes. Each from a different perspective tells his or her story about how they came to AdSense, tested, retested and eventually mastered AdSense to realise a greater income. One or two are still working on improvements to the AdSense aspects of their businesses to earn even greaterlevels of income.

As everyone knows, duplicating the models successfully used by others is a shortcut to success ... medical practitioners use it daily, so do marketers. There is every reason to believe that if you follow the proven methods used by the nine people whose stories are told in this ebook, you will have a similar degree of success. Interestingly, the nine contributors do not only discuss AdSense, they also discuss matters such as search engine optimization, keywords, web design, link management etc, all of which is good advice and makes this ebook even more useful. Evidence of earnings is provided as are numbers of examples of sites with AdSense adverts showing successful placement of AdSense ads.

Although most of the content confirms what I already know, for someone new to Internet marketing, web design or using Google AdSense, Codrut's ebook will save them a lot of time and effort in getting to the income earning stage.

Is it value for money?

The price for "AdSense Secrets" is $69.97 USD and it is downloaded almost immediately. Included in that price are the following bonuses:

  1. Ebook, "101 Quick Tips to Increase AdSense Income in 30 Days"
  2. FREE Profit-Pulling AdSense Site Critique and One-On-One Support By E-mail - Anytime You Need Help or Have An AdSense-Related Problem!
  3. "AdSense Profit Shortcuts" - Monthly eLetter
  4. A mystery bonus (value not known)

Value for money is a personal thing depending on so many variables that I can't answer that question for you. What I can say is that I find $69.97 quite a steep price (especially given the Australian exchange rate which knocks me about). However, if you can use the bonuses, especially bonus two of a free AdSense critique, it could represent value for money. The free critique and one-on-one support could be worth thousands ... if you make sure you use it.

Also, there are numbers of links within the text that lead to free utility programs etc that add value to your purchase.

And the Negatives?

In my opinion the only negatives are that the ebook isn't as professionally presented as it could be (given the price) and that the downloading process is convoluted. Having said that, if you are looking for content and don't care if the format and layout is ordinary, then presentation of the ebook won't matter. As for the downloading, it involves completing a subscription box and sending an email from a post-payment page to retrieve a link to another page from which the downloads can be made. But before the final download step, one has to confirm the email details. All of this could be prevented if the download page presented immediately after purchase.

Conclusion

If you want to learn how to establish or increase an AdSense PPC stream of income, this book certainly delivers the goods and will give you a good start.

There are dozens of things you can do today to generate income almost immediately. Add to that the bonuses, especially the one-on-one support and you will be well on your way to joining those of us who earn income from AdSense for doing nothing but placing links on our sites.

I've already begun to improve some of my AdSense strategies and will be monitoring income increase throughout the next three months at which time I'll write an article detailing my findings. Watch this space!

Weblogs, Inc. grew blog ad revenue from $200 to $3000 a day with Google AdSense.

Weblogs, Inc. is a publishing consortium of 100 independent bloggers who produce more than 1,000 blog posts a week across over 75 industry-leading blogs, including the popular consumer technology blog Engadget, luxury goods blog Luxist, and car-focused Autoblog. Written by experts and enthusiasts, each one has a distinctive following in its subject area. Readers are able to sort and search stories by topic, can engage in discussion via comments, and rank stories of interest to them. Collectively, Weblogs Inc. blogs get over 60 million pageviews a month. Bloggers are paid a stipend and also receive a portion of advertising earnings related to their blog(s).

Veteran publisher Jason Calacanis thought long and hard about how to support bloggers – and how to make this online business model work. "I was interested in making great content sustainable," recalls Calacanis. "Unfiltered content like blogs can be scary to some advertisers. But people who like unfiltered content are a special audience of early adopters, connectors, information junkies – they are keenly interested in everything they're reading – including the ads."

In September 2004, the fledgling site signed up for AdSense for content sites. The program appealed to him because the ads were contextual, boosting the value of the page content to his enthusiast audience of readers.

7 Habits of a Highly Successful Bloggers

Andy Budd has a post up in regards to being a highly successful freelance web designer, but really the post is written in such a way that it is not design specific, and many of the points could be just as easily attached to a highly successful blogger.

Love what you do
This one is something simple, but usually so difficult to attain, but honestly if you want a successful blog, you have to love what you are doing. Do you love writing? Which topic? How often? All of these different things have to come together in such a way that a year down the road you are still smiling at writing on that blog, rather than dreading it.

Never stop learning
Even the best thought-leader in blogging still needs to learn a thing or two. New software, new image editing techniques, new ways of doing things, and it never stops, unless you want it to. But really, when you stop focusing some time on learning new things, you really just begin to stagnate, and I am sure none of us want a stale blog.

Specialise
This is something that bloggers really need to take to heart. Specializing does not mean you can’t write about a wide variety of subjects, or use a wide variety of tools, but it does mean that if you can narrow it down to just one or two things, you can specialize and become the person to go to for whatever you specialize in.

If you love WordPress, dive deep into it, and learn it, as that is quickly becoming a reasonably decent marketable skill. If you love blue widgets, stop worrying about red and yellow widgets, and comparing them, focus on how great blue widgets are, and sooner or later, people will be following your blog to see what’s new in blue widgets.

Get a killer portfolio
This one really applies more to probloggers, people that want to make money off their writing. Just about every blogging network requires some examples of your work, as well as some fresh ideas. So get a portfolio going, and show off your talents. Archive your best writing and feature it in a portfolio page, or point it out on your blog. You never know who is reading, and what opportunities may come from it.

Network like crazy
Without talking to people online, I would never be in the position I am today. If you want to get noticed, notice other people. Take the time to be interested in them, and more than likely, they will become interested in you as well. Leave comments on other blogs (don’t just lurk), use your blog to point out a great article someone else did, or even just send an e-mail to a blogger to tell them you respect or admire their writing.

Networking can go a long way to not only helping a blog do better, but helping bloggers feel more a part of a community.

Manage your time
Pushing out a post or two every day can sometimes be difficult with the stress of life, but if you learn to manage your time effectively, then you will be able to find that five, ten, or twenty minutes it takes you to organize your thoughts and publish them, and every post brings opportunities.

Build your reputation
Thought-leadership is something you are going to see me mention constantly over the next while as well as passion, as they are both essential in building a reputation via your blog or blogs. By being a thought-leader, someone who is always focused on bringing out their speciality, passion and focus for a subject, you can quickly build a positive reputation online, and basically prove your worth.

The people that have the highest reputations online are those that are offered to write chapters of books, invited to conferences, and have a community built around them.

I know this can seem difficult because it feels like everyone has already said everything that needed to be said, but having the same opinion, but presenting it in a different way, could make it more easy for readers to digest, and the transfer of easy to understand information is one of the most important things that a blogger can do.

World's Top Ranked Blogger Explains How He Made it Happen

Adsense Success Stories - Amit Agarwal

One of My Favourite Songs Lyric

Circle Of Life- ELTON JOHN

From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There's more to be seen than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done

Some say eat or be eaten
Some say live and let live
But all are agreed as they join the stampede
You should never take more than you give

In the circle of life
It's the wheel of fortune
It's the leap of faith
It's the band of hope
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle, the circle of life

Some of us fall by the wayside
And some of us soar to the stars
And some of us sail through our troubles
And some have to live with the scars

There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round.

Benefits of Exercise

Last Night I found a blog names HEALTH TREASURE . Got some interesting Information about Exercise. This is no question the benefit of exercise. Here I'm mentioning some Benefits from that blog HEALTH TREASURE

1. Heart Disease : Regular activity strengthens your heart muscle; lowers blood pressure; increases "good" cholesterol (high-density lipoproteins or HDLs) and lowers "bad" cholesterol (low-density lipoproteins or LDLs); enhances blood flow; and helps your heart function more efficiently. All of these benefits reduce the risk of stroke, heart disease, and high blood pressure.
Researchers at Duke University suggest that the amount of physical activity, rather than its intensity, has the biggest impact on improving blood lipids (cholesterol). According to The New England Journal of Medicine, these researchers also found that any exercise is better than none -- although more is better.

2. Stroke : In an analysis of 23 studies, researchers found that being active reduces your risk of having and dying from a stroke. According to a study published in the journal Stroke, moderately active study participants had 20% less risk of stroke than less active participants.

3. Type II Diabetes : This disease is increasing at alarming rates -- by 62% since 1990 -- and 17 million Americans now have it. Physical activity can enhance weight loss and help prevent and/or control this condition. Losing weight can increase insulin sensitivity, improve blood sugar and cholesterol levels, and reduce blood pressure -- all of which are very important to the health of people with diabetes.
In a study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, Frank Hu, MD, of the Harvard School of Public Health found that a brisk walk for one hour daily could reduce the risk of type II diabetes by 34%.

4. Obesity : Overweight and obese conditions can be prevented or treated with exercise along with a healthy diet. Activity helps to reduce body fat and increase muscle mass, thus improving your body's ability to burn calories. The combination of reduced calories and daily exercise is the ticket to weight loss. And controlling obesity is critical, as it is a major risk factor for many diseases. Lowering your body mass index (BMI) is a sure way to reduce your risk of dying early and to live a healthier life.

5. Back Pain : Back pain can be managed or prevented with a fitness program that includes muscle strengthening and flexibility. Having good posture and a strong abdomen is the body's best defense against back pain.

6. Osteoporosis : Weight-bearing exercise (such as walking, jogging, stair climbing, dancing, or lifting weights) strengthens bone formation and helps prevent the osteoporosis or bone loss often seen in women after menopause. Combine a diet rich in calcium and vitamin D with
regular weight-bearing exercise for maximum results.

According to The Journal of the American Medical Association, data from the Nurses' Health Study showed that women who walked four or more hours per week had 41% fewer hip fractures than those who walked less than an hour a week.

7. Psychological Benefits : Improved self-esteem is one of the top benefits of regular physical activity. While exercising, your body releases chemicals called endorphins that can improve your mood and the way you feel about yourself. The feeling that follows a run or workout is often described as "euphoric" and is accompanied by an energizing outlook. Exercise can help you cope with stress and ward off depression and anxiety.

And these are just a few of the ways exercise improves your health. Studies have suggested it can also help with certain types of cancer, improve immune function, and more.
Putting It All Together: Exercise and a Healthy Diet

Exercise alone produces modest weight loss; when combined with a reduced-calorie diet, the effects are much more impressive.

In a study published in The Journal of the American Medical Association, University of Pittsburgh researchers found that people who exercised regularly and ate a healthy, modest-calorie diet lost weight and improved cardiorespiratory fitness regardless of the length or intensity of their workouts.

Another study published in JAMA showed that it is never too late to reap the benefits of physical activity. Sedentary women 65 years and older who began walking a mile a day cut their rates of death from all causes by 50%.

Resistance, Resistance

If exercise is so good for us, why aren't people doing it?
Some 64% of men and 72% of women fail to fit in activity on a daily basis, according to data from the 2000 National Health Interview Survey. Americans today are no more active than they were a decade ago.
The American College of Sports Medicine recommends a combination of aerobic exercise (the type that makes you breathe harder, like walking or jogging) for cardiovascular conditioning; strength training (like lifting weights or calisthenics) for muscle toning, and stretching to improve your range of motion.
Strive for doing all three types, but remember that any exercise is better than nothing. Here are

some easy ways to work physical activity into your life:

Adopt a dog and take it for walks every day.
Do things the old-fashioned way -- get up and change the television channel; open the garage door manually; use a push lawnmower.
Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
Walk briskly whenever you can.
Minimize use of your car; walk to destinations within a mile.
Take up tennis or any other game or sport you enjoy.
Join a gym or health club.

Next time you are tempted to skip exercising, keep these wonderful health benefits in mind and remember, every little bit helps. You may not feel up to a rigorous workout, but how about a walk in the neighborhood?

Don't pass up a chance of a lifetime -- that is, a longer and healthier one.

Maximizing AdSense Revenues via Up-Selling

If you go into any Blockbuster Video store, you quickly notice the company’s use of a classic marketing technique – up-selling correlated products. This technique is highly effective at maximizing Blockbuster’s revenue and profit per customer. Moreover, this same technique can be applied to websites using Google’s AdSense program.

Up-selling is defined as selling additional, often higher priced, products and services to current customers. Ideally, the upsold products are correlated to the initial products – that is, they fill the same, or similar customer need that the first product did. Blockbuster up-sells its rental customers by offering them new and previously owned videos for sale. It also groups videos and posts signs saying “if you liked this video, you’ll like this video” spurring rentals of the new video.

To show how this technique can be applied to Google AdSense, let us look at an example of a painting website. To begin, it is critical to understand that by enrolling in the AdSense program the “product” that this website is selling is the keyword “paint” or “painting” as these keywords will show up in the AdSense results posted on their web pages. It is also critical to understand the price of these keywords, or how much the advertiser pays when someone clicks on one of their ads (a portion of which is passed on from Google to the owner of the painting website). In this case, top advertisers are paying approximately 19 cents for the keyword “paint” and 45 cents for the keyword “painting.”

By applying the technique of up-selling correlated products to the painting website, the website owner could dramatically increase the price of its products and the rate at which people buy (click on) the product. Like in the Blockbuster example, the key is to first determine expensive, correlated products to up-sell. In the painting case, one keyword that quickly comes to mind is “home remodeling” as painting is often part of a larger home remodeling project. Moreover, “home remodeling” has a price of $1.70, or nearly nine times the price of “paint.” Furthermore, finding keywords correlated to “home remodeling” yields even more expensive keywords such as “home improvement loan” which currently has a price of $6.50, or thirty-four times the price of the original term “paint.”

Now that the more expensive and correlated products have been identified, the website owner must create web pages with quality content about these products and entice, via text and links, visitors to go to these pages. The higher quality the content, the more enticing the product or service becomes, and the more likely a visitor is to click on one of the high paying AdSense ads.

In summary, by simply posting AdSense ads on their websites, most website owners are losing out on significant profits. Rather, they must identify the most expensive keywords that are correlated to their existing keywords and create web pages with quality content about these pages. While this requires some work, the returns on this investment are significant.

How to Profit from Knowing the Most Expensive Keywords

By knowing the most expensive keywords on the internet, you can create websites and web pages based on these keywords. On these sites and pages, you can serve expensive ads and/or promote affiliate offers that reap high bounties when clicked or completed.

The challenge lies in driving traffic to these sites. One way to drive traffic is through search engine optimization, whereby you create a website that ranks highly on the search engines and receive “free” traffic. Or, if you already have an existing well-ranked site, you can create new pages linked from your existing pages. A second way to drive traffic is through online advertising.

With regards to advertising, one key is to understand correlations between keywords. By determining correlations between inexpensive and expensive keywords, you can advertise on the inexpensive keyword (via pay-per-click (PPC) advertising on search engines) to drive traffic to your website that serves ads based on expensive keywords. For instance, advertising on the keyword “painting” ($0.20 keyword), and sending visitors to your site about the related topic “home remodeling” ($2.00 keyword) allows you to profit from the wide spread between the keyword prices of the two correlated keywords.

Likewise there are many opportunities to run banner and other ads through online advertising networks to drive traffic to your website. These ads can run on both “painting” and “home remodeling” websites. The cost of CPM (cost per impression) advertising typically does not reflect the price of the keywords. That is, a banner ad on a “painting” website typically costs the same as a banner ad on a “home remodeling” website. This sharply contrasts the price of PPC advertising on search engines which vary widely based on the keyword.

There are two other ways to profit from knowing the most expensive keywords. The first doesn’t even require you to own or operate a website. In this method, you advertise using inexpensive means (e.g., via pay-per-click advertising on inexpensive keywords or CPM advertising) and direct traffic to high paying affiliate offers. The second method is to set up your own search engine. There are several companies that allow you to easily set up a search engine that serves PPC ads syndicated from Google, Overture or other PPC search engine networks. Once you create your engine, you can drive traffic directly to your PPC results, and get paid every time someone clicks on one of the results. Likewise, on your search engine’s home page, you can include many links to expensive keywords, so that when someone clicks on it, the engine shows expensive ads based on those keywords.

Understanding keyword pricing is critical to the online advertising, PPC search engine and affiliate marketing businesses – businesses that combine for over $25 billion a year in revenues. With a market of this size, generating substantial profits, if you have the right information, is really not that challenging.
